Had an amazing conversation today with two bright, creative, driven and black young entrepreneurs, a recipe for disaster in a Jamaica. Being Black without a prestigious last name and no high light in your skin having too much ambition can work against you. But it was while talking to them that I felt like hey just maybe there is a power shift on its way and it’s thanks to this new God we like to call the internet.
A little controversy is not a bad thing but when you live on a small island, where everything is controlled by one set of people, the moment you try to go against it, as an individual your life can get very complicated. Jamaica is one of the biggest political jokes I’ve ever had the privilege of being apart of, wonderful island, amazing culture. But no matter what that statute says, slavery never ended they just took the shackles off and built walls around us instead.
You have the field slaves who they work hard with very little returns and whenever they try to do something life changing the system finds another way to restrain them. They usually do this with higher taxes, importing and exporting restrictions and keeping minimum wage so low that it’s more expensive to work than to stay home.
There are the house slaves, the “Niggers” who have been given a golden opportunity to laugh and work beside the Masters. All they have to do is shut their mouth, talk like them and behave themselves and they will always be invited to the party, they must at all times forget their roots. Because the moment they embrace it, that’s it,they are replaced with another Nigger who takes ordered better.
I’ll tell you what upper class Jamaica and the rest of these un-black successful people have over us, they work together. They buy each other and build each other and together they own and control every thing. They control the media and who controls the media, controls the mind.
But there is one small problem emerging, it’s called the internet and thanks to the internet they are losing control. The white man has set us up against each other (don’t be offended my white readers, I’m going back in time, I have nothing against white men just ask my boyfriend) and over the years we have continued to fight and destroy each other. There is more black on black crime than any other crime in the world, white people stopped fighting us when they realized “hey look the bastards are killing each other, we can go home”
They say that slavery is over and I agree to an extent, we aren’t walking around in shackles anymore and the white man no longer makes plots against us. But that’s because they don’t have to they have created an automatic system where we self destruct and we’ve been self destruction for years spiraling out of existence. Black people are genetically the strongest people in the world, born to rule this earth, yet we aren’t ruling we are participating in it, I don’t even want to call it a game.
The US elections showed me something, I know people are saying it’s stupid that Obama was voted in favor because he’s black. But I saw a different side of the story, I saw for once black people united and did something. I have never seen black people work together before, not while I’ve been alive.
It showed the dawn of a power shift, in 2008 during one of his speeches president Obama said something, then brushed the dirt off his shoulders Jay Z style. Jay Z and the president have been close ever since. It showed Hip Hop the core of the ghetto and the black community working hand in hand politics and the future of the black race, and I dont think you realize how powerful that is.
When Jay Z said “My President is Black and my Card is Black” he not only showed you the extent of his wealth, but he forced you to respect him, I don’t think you understand that History was made, the black man wasn’t poor, nameless and without connections anymore. When president Obama won the second time again, that’s when I knew that the Power Shift was happening and it was real. The people who used to control the media and hold the information, well they don’t own it anymore, the people do.
Welcome to a new world, get ready to move around a bit. Tell them “We were born Slaves, but we’re dying KINGS”
